Advanced Learner Loans are funded by the government to enable learners to enrol onto level 3 or 4 courses without having to pay a lump sum or a large upfront fee, meaning learners can still benefit from studying a distance learning course without the initial cost.
If you are over 19 years of age and have lived in the UK for at least three years, it is likely that you will be eligible to take out an Advanced Learner Loan to support your online study - UK and internationally with The Skills Network.
If you are eligible for an Advanced Learner Loan and are successful in receiving it, you will only begin to make the affordable repayments during the April after your course finishes, and only when you are earning over £25,000 per year.
Before you you think about applying for an Advanced Learner Loan, it is important that you consider your personal and financial circumstances. The course you choose to study and the maximum and minimum loan amounts set by the government will determine how much loan you will receive. The Skills Network will be able to confirm the cost of your course and whether all, or some, of it can be covered by your loan.
